Sanchia Slater – EPD Facilitator

Sanchia started teaching English in 1999 when she did her TEFL certificate before going overseas for the teaching experience. She spent some time in England and then went to teach in Istanbul, Turkey for a year. She came back to South Africa where she finished her Honours degree and then, having fallen in love with teaching while overseas, she enrolled for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). She was a high school teacher for some years and started working in the English for Professional Development Unit at Wits Language School in 2011.

Sanchia has an MA in Applied English Language Studies. Her interest is in self-efficacy beliefs in second-language learning, and she is also curious about the effects of introversion and extraversion in the language classroom.
